Odd Mycology

The Mind - flowing with awareness like a river -
you can-t have a river without water -
you can-t have mind without awareness - they are the same thing - feeling - sensing - emoting - cognitive function and conceptuality - these are all aspects of the mind - all based on its fundamental ability to be aware - its awareness - simple awareness itself -
The mind can go through innumerable realms - ordinary - extraordinary - pure and impure - clear and deluded - sacred and profane - it-s all in the mind - what we perceive and what we conceive are all within the mind - where else - - - it-s the same mind - deluded or clarified - calm or agitated - the same mind -
Thoughts and beliefs and of course experiences can colour the personality or superficial layers of consciousness - Like a collection of ornate lanterns - personalities are the characteristic and unique containers for the universal and undifferentiated brilliance and radiance of awareness itself -
Almost 40 years ago I fueled my mind with the sacred Druidic fungi that blossom in the Autumn and have been used by humans for countless millennia - In the November issue of The Caterpillar I described my experience - in this Dub Issue of The Caterpillar I-ve re-mixed my impressions of this long-past experience into a piece of psychedelic art - seemed like the thing to do with it all these years later -

Hellys - A Golden Metheven Mandala of Bliss in Kernow's Dreamy Kiss

Down the time-tunnel – through to 1966 and beyond – all stations are stations of possibility – in this Lovesummer of Explosive Peace and bright joy – revisiting the pastown like Marley’s Ghost, Marcus’ Ghost, Garvey’s Ghost, and all the ghosts of Pengersick’s wizard-haunted towering realm, espied afar overseas, far over tramor and trasna na dtonnta – this Keltek tin-town tin-pot real – look and learn it… old newspapers – all the styles that have gone – yesterday’s modernity – faded futurism and peeling paint on boutique doors and discotech tactile touchstones – all is revealed in the streets of archaic and lichen-crusted granite and in the faces of those you meet – reality unfurls its banner and rattles replete –
Metheven howlyak scorches the pavements on the south-facing hill, the nettley hill over the Cober – June sun sears streets and blue azure dark dome broods happily with sparkling light-points- pointillism come to life in impressionistic drowse – nothing changes too much here, I stuck my head round the door of the dark and cavernous inn to see that naught had changed too much, except for the bairns running around – playing in the drunken footfalls of ghost-monks from the 13th Century – the Bewlay Brothers blasting from a teenage tape-player, sunshine- sunshine – fields of the sun-

and all this shot through with great truths I have yet to imagine-

Dasson Ebryl - It's a Dub Version

Speckled the feather, mottled the quiver, ruffled the corrugations, crinkled the time-beam, wrinkled the stone-world, flickered the soul-light, shattered the old world, muttered the dark night, rattled the old house, battered the wild storm, matted the horses hair, chequered the merry air…

An Gath Vlewek Ebryl 2016 Heb Kost

Crikey, is it that time again?  Hoof!  How time flies.  Flies usually timed with stopwatch.  Ha.  Hmmm.  Well, this Ebryl, The Caterpillar be mainly concerned with a palette of issues arising out of the copywriting of a collage-journal of a photocopy of a paint-palette and similar matters of artistic integrity and etiquette.  Better yet, The Caterpillar comes to you totally free, without charge and totally heb kost.  An Gath Vlewek – what a truly hairy cat it is – or is it? – you decide – it is for you, the avid readers, that The Caterpillar is, after all, created by that gibbering horde of rabid, ravenous and haunting night-gaunts.  Well, so long for now Pals, till the trails cross again, I’ll be moseying along, chasing the doggies, tumble-weeds and illusory phenomenal-projections of the impenetrable mists of time, dream and mind.  Heb Kost remember!

Light On Plasticity

– A subconscious re-interpretation of a little-known luminous phenomenon replete and re-heated in conspiracy with certain unutterable new findings in Ye Scroll of ye Lore, &c.; &c.;  by Cedric Brodie, Doctor &c Physick.; &c.:
- Constraining herewith an oral account both humble and magnificent, of the peregrinations of the above-mentioned philosopher, namely Mr Cedric Brodie, ‘during his various and divers voyages around and about the Soul of Man; namely and to whit: ye Seeing, ye Hearing, ye Touch, ye Smell, etc., etc., &.C;  also included is the narrative of ye return voyage to New Lynsmouth and various hilarious goings-on in that fair towne.  Printed by Grittfellow, Withertop and Urge – Cheapside, London, in the year of 1617.

Upon a beam of light I sailed around, ever chasing the sun.  After many a voyage I noticed the beams of sun were reflecting off the water, I traced their source, I charted their course and plumbed their line.  By Jupiter!  With all zeal I sought the source of sun’s silent shine.  I can’t pretend to grasp the shimmering glint with mere bony hand.  This playful spirit sits still for no-one, not even a child.  Dancing light, do you never sit upon the water when the water is still?  I chased you round but found that though you eluded me, still, you were there all the time, right there – gravity bent you my way by attraction oh playful spirit of light you were the Newton’s apple of my eye.  So instead, after many restless voyages around the poles of the horn, I settled down to the life of an English country squire and a natural history of botanical verbiage. Taxonomical lepidoptery filled many a pleasant day when I was not drowsing before a roaring fire as the rain skittered down.  E’er the glint sparkled for me from then on.  I sat back like a crafty old dog and let the light come to me.  Now, instead of chasing it, I could simply sit and look deeply into it as it met my eye – illuminating my inner eye with every photonic pulse – a smile also lit my face.

This just in – breath – this just out – breath – this just streaming – breath – eternally through now and into infinite futurity – breath – as white-light of Hendrix’s guitar jams with Arthur Lee and Love – breath – and electricity streams through the universe – breath  - and in a blink it’s 2016 and they’ve gone universal, done got promoted…

On the Plasticity of Light-Waves – A sub-molecular interpretation of a quasi-self-luminous phenomenon re-examined and re-evaluated in conjunction with certain unspeakable new findings in Ye Booke of ye most ancient and foule Shoggoths, &c.; &c.; by Cecil Peabody, Gent.; &c.: - Containing herewithin an account both splendid and magnificent, of the travels and travails of the aforementioned gentlefellow, namely Mr Cecil Peabody, ‘during his various and divers voyages around and about the watery parts of ye globe; namely and to whit: ye Southe Seas, ye Atlantek, ye Pacifick, ye Sea of Gaule, etc., etc., &.C; also included is the narrative of ye return voyage to Blighty and various hilarious goings-on in that fair land. Printed by Gribble and Toothsplitter – Paternoster Lane, London, in the year of 1616.

Upon a watery beam of light I sailed around the globe, ever chasing the setting sun.  After many and many a voyage I noticed the beams of sunset were reflecting off the watery main, I traced their source with sextant and compass, I charted their course and plumbed their line.  By Jupiter, I would solve this mystery!  With all the zeal and rigour of a young student fresh out of college I sought the source of sun’s silent shine.  I sought the source upon the seas as I sailed forth as I did please.  The rays they bent around the globe – to meet their point they made a strobe.  The twinkling beams like sea-lions smiled, their grin went on for miles and miles.  I stopped the light dead in its tracks, I met its echo coming back.  The beam reflected in a mirror I waved it in particles.  Gravity sucked at the light and threw the whole thing subtly out of kilter, it looks better that way, like the Akropolis.  The timbers of the old oak ship had been soaking up the light golden all the time in rosy orange mellow buffalo brown hue, so why worry about it?  Another light twinkled in my eye, another twinkled upon the sea.  The beams met and rebounded around the back of the earth, coming back for more.  The light that I had chased around the globe, had made the object of my search, my years of study, the light of stars and suns, the watery beam of light I chased around the globe – it was right there in my own eye all the time!

Did you remember to look at the clots of sea-foam bobbling in the froth?  The secret wildernesshave you been there lately, seen the lizard green scampering, the pink of the sycamore buds bursting, the haze on the rolling bay?
Come take my hand, we’ll step out of Babylon and recover our gentle souls in the wilderness.

In next month's issue of The Caterpillar, the tale continues, with Part 24 of that most eldritch and gothique saga of Cornique gull-duggery, The Journal of Elias Gillpington.  Hhmmmm. . . .  as singular as it is perplexing!
