Ghastly Otherness Dub

Well, here it is folks, splurging into your fat faces like a river of glorious, molten, shivering, jewel-encrusted vomit – hope you likes it….

Bagla Reverb

Same sun – different splinters- shattering shadow’s realm with photon-haze raking at the day’s rippled perimeter.  Footsteps echo the tinkling of a tiny lute.  Concealed now, slipped under the overcoat and swallowed in its fold, the song-bird nestling within.  Looking forward in sunny yellowed time we find our footsteps wandering along alleys and wandering byways – bustling quays by the sea.  Winding lanes with cellars and taverns.  A whirling zeibekiko emerges like a Dervish through the echoing teke door and we find in our footsteps we’ve been here before.  These echoing zithers, tinkling finger symbolic zelia and tapping darabukas- yawling karamusas and mellifluous clarinos-  and the guitar, bouzouki and baglamas of the Piraeus-style zeibekiko 9/8 sound- rebetiko’s early chant punctuated and decorated by the ethereal and shimmering bagla – surely one of the most mystical and enchanted instruments ever to be given to man by the Gods…

Whirling Swirl 49

Clouds bilious accumulate towering and flimsy- blowing down the sky flits a scrap of newspaper- whirling and curling overhead, riding the seaward breeze- it’s The April issue of The Caterpillar Dub and it’s coming your way….. and it’s blowing away down the street… a gust picks it up and into the sky it’s whirled-

Swirling Whirl 49

Rolling on over golden fields of grain- sky blue haze casually drifts across-  spotted mottled cloud shadow today, rolling on the wind-  blowing down the day flies a scrap of paper- swirling and circling overhead, riding the breeze- it’s The April issue of The Caterpillar and it’s coming your way…..

JaCkDaW

A stupendous view of the bay is commanded from the bay window transoms, from Loe Bar, across by Halzephron and on down to Mullion and The Lizard.  Someone seems to swoon forward in gentle reverie, images rippling outward from expressive, inventive mind.  Cluck, jackdaw's feather flutters to ground shimmering blue and dark shine.

Street-cars, side-cars, allotments and rugby-pitches- a rainy Saturday afternoon, the radio blaring.  Fragments of lichen and Spanish Moss cling to the trees  - an old movie.  Sunlight on the  pavement on the hill, quiet.  Grass sprouting in the gutter.  Snatches of brass band music being blown about by the wind;  tattered posters flapping on old brick walls,  chimes of an ice-cream van.  Dry warm wind blows the dust in rivulets along the brown and fading street, bleached by summer’s old-time sun.  A thousand summer suns that shone and in shining shone on as one.  Side streets, rugby-cars and rainy allotment pitches on a radio afternoon of blaring Saturday.  Feet clacking down dry dusty streets, past shacks of clucking clarion cockerels, heralds, horns blaring.   Swarming downtowns turned to brick, nostalgic reverie reveals no intrinsically solid stalactites.
